Share market update: Bank shares rise; HDFC Bank up over 1%


NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading with gains in Monday’s morning session.

Shares of IDFC First BankNSE 0.34 % (up 1.62 per cent), RBL Bank (up 1.42 per cent), HDFC Bank (up 1.41 per cent) and Punjab National BankNSE -0.62 % (up 1.07 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

ICICI Bank (up 0.92 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 0.92 per cent), Axis Bank (up 0.79 per cent) and YES Bank (up 0.32 per cent) too were trading with gains.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.77 per cent up at 31,345.05 around 11:04 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 69.95 points at 11,858.80 while the BSE Sensex was up 262.23 points at 39,656.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, PNB, Bank of Baroda, NCC, JSPL, SAIL, Dish TV India, NTPC and ZEEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
