Share market update: Bank shares fall; YES Bank slumps over 6%


NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading with losses in Tuesday’s morning session.

Shares of YES Bank (down 6.64 per cent) , IDFC First BankNSE 1.24 % (down 1.13 per cent) , Punjab National BankNSE 1.12 % (down 1.11 per cent) and ICICI Bank (down 0.90 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 0.76 per cent) , Axis Bank (down 0.68 per cent) , HDFC Bank (down 0.63 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (down 0.57 per cent) too were trading lower.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.76 per cent down at 31,134.65 around 11:07 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 41.70 points at 11,823.90 while the BSE Sensex was down 156.55 points at 39,529.95.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Adani Power, Vodafone Idea, Dish TV India, ZEEL, PNB, Tata Motors, JSPL, Adani Enterprises and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE
